We consider native plants to be those which existed in North America prior to European settlement and naturally occur in a given habitat. A species that is native to Colorado may not be native to other western states and may or may not be native to all parts of Colorado. Native plants are a great choice for the simple reason that they are well adapted to their environment and are likely to thrive without too much fuss. Once established, they will provide a beautiful, low-maintenance and long-lived display that is both ecologically appropriate and environmentally sound.
